About

In 2005 Janette Worm launched WaterPlanetEarth. She is a water scientist who’s as passionate about finding creative solutions as she is about connecting the right people. Whether it's public-private partnerships or sustainable transformations, she's got a knack for making things happen. Her wide-ranging experience tackling water challenges has taken her to many corners of the globe, where she’s built an extensive network of water experts—basically, she knows everyone who’s anyone in the water world.

With years of experience in leadership roles, Janette is a pro at working across ministries, the private sector, and NGOs. She’s an expert in water management for impact, and she knows the ins and outs of development issues, science, technology, and innovation like the back of her hand. But what really sets her apart is her ability to bring people together—whether it’s scientists, politicians, or local stakeholders, Janette connects people with ease, all while keeping the goals high.

Janette’s background is as strategic as it gets. She's got a built-in radar for spotting opportunities, whether they’re political, socio-economic, technological, or scientific.

Before joining World Waternet in 2018, Janette was the strategic senior advisor for the Delta Coalition at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She also worked as interim manager for several NGOs from 2005 onward. Before that, she was the Head of the Water Unit at AIDEnvironment in the Netherlands. Her career also includes working as a senior policy advisor for coastal zone management and freshwater resources at the Ministry of Water Management. Plus, she worked at the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM).

Over the years, Janette has worked with professionals from the UN system to governments and NGOs like WWF, IUCN, Wetlands International, Waddenvereniging, and the Aqua4All. She’s got a talent for visionary leadership, making collaboration happen, and offering strategic advice that sticks.
